The Host
Marc Heck­mann-Brünen has been active at Land­hotel Stähle for over two decades and has been its owner since 2016. His journey has been shaped by many stages: trai­ning within the estab­lish­ment, expe­ri­ence in other busi­nesses, gradua­tion from hotel manage­ment school – and ulti­m­ately, the conscious decision to take over and further develop Land­hotel Stähle.

What distin­gu­ishes him is the balance between profes­sio­na­lism and personal connec­tion. He is a passio­nate host, for whom personal contact with guests and staff is as important as a clear vision for the future.

A House with History
Land­hotel Stähle looks back on a rich history. What began in 1956 as a small tavern in the Stähle fami­ly’s living room quickly deve­loped into a popular excur­sion restau­rant – featuring tea dances, hearty clas­sics, and the first French influences, inspired by Maria and Fritz Stäh­le’s time in Alsace.

Over decades, Land­hotel Stähle was conti­nuously deve­loped with great dedi­ca­tion – trans­forming from a small inn into a place with unique character. The history of the estab­lish­ment is shaped by indi­vi­duals with a passion for gastro­nomy, a sense of quality, and the desire to offer guests genuine rela­xa­tion. Today, Marc Heck­mann-Brünen manages the hotel with precisely this approach: personal, authentic, and with great respect for the history that lends this place its charm.

1956

Opening of the first tavern in the Stähle fami­ly’s living room, serving as a meeting point for local guests.

1959

Cons­truc­tion of an exten­sion with a large restau­rant and a small func­tion room for cele­bra­tions and day-trip­pers.

1976

Hotel exten­sion with 15 double rooms, its own swim­ming pool, sauna, sola­rium, and the Restau­rant Clas­sique.

1980s

Eva Stähle takes over the manage­ment of the estab­lish­ment and shapes the hotel for many years.

1992

Reno­va­tion of the hotel entrance: The conser­va­tory boutique is created, now used as the recep­tion.

1995

Opening of the conser­va­tory; Marc Heck­mann-Brünen begins his trai­ning as a hotel specia­list at the hotel.

2003

Marc Heck­mann-Brünen joins as opera­tions manager and assumes respon­si­bi­lity for trai­ning & opera­tions.

2006/07

Plan­ning and cons­truc­tion of the country house; Marc Heck­mann-Brünen decides to take over the hotel.

2016

Offi­cial take­over: Land­hotel Stähle is trans­ferred to Marc Heck­mann-Brünen.

For Marc Heck­mann-Brünen, being a host prima­rily means one thing: giving – and simul­ta­neously gaining appre­cia­tion in return. He places great importance on authen­ti­city, quality, and genuine encoun­ters. Whether in the kitchen, in the room furnis­hings, or in the service – ever­y­thing should be honest, genuine, and reliable.

It is not about grand gestures for him, but about the many small moments that leave a lasting impres­sion. His approach is clear: Hospi­ta­lity begins with respect and friend­li­ness – and only in this way can a place be perma­nently created to which people gladly return.

Personal Moments
Beyond his work as a host, Marc parti­cu­larly values quiet moments. He enjoys reading, loves history, archi­tec­ture, and anti­ques – and incor­po­rates these passions into the hotel’s design. Fine fabrics, which he occa­sio­nally sews into cushions and curtains for the hotel himself, selected deco­ra­tions, or the silver­ware he coll­ects himself, lend the estab­lish­ment a special character.

Culinary-wise, his heart beats for honest plea­sures: French cheese with bread, a simple soup, accom­pa­nied by a glass of white wine from Baden or France. And when he wishes to unwind, he is drawn to his favo­rite spot: the seating area by the fire­place in the conser­va­tory – cozy, convi­vial, and full of charm.

As a host, Marc has many personal recom­men­da­tions for his guests: A walk through the Bent­heim Forest with a view into the Fran­zo­sen­schlucht, a visit to Bent­heim Castle with its impres­sive history, or a bike tour through the cross-border cycling network into Müns­ter­land and the Nether­lands.

The coope­ra­tion with the Euregio Golf­club Bad Bent­heim is also very important to him – located just a few kilo­me­ters away and offe­ring reduced green fees for hotel guests. For him, these excur­sions are more than just recom­men­da­tions – they are part of the special quality of life that surrounds Land­hotel Stähle.

Vision & Future
In recent years, Marc Heck­mann-Brünen has achieved a great deal – yet he does not consider the deve­lo­p­ment of Land­hotel Stähle to be complete. The combi­na­tion of regio­na­lity and French flair, of tradi­tion and modern demands, is to be further expanded.

With a clear approach and great passion, he wishes to develop the hotel step by step. The goal is to preserve Land­hotel Stähle long-term as a special place of tran­qui­lity, authen­ti­city, and encounter – while also incor­po­ra­ting new ideas that will bring joy to guests today and in the future.
